Create a Demand Letter
Students will analyze a typical “demand letter” sent to an insurance company. The letter is based on the facts of a car accident involving an injured “mom.” After being exposed to the pertinent issues, the students invent a fictional car accident victim and draft their own demand letter using the Internet to find the elements needed (injury, type of job, average salary, etc). This activity teaches them that in real life, most personal injury cases are settled, not taken to trial.
