The Napster Debate
Read Napster’s copyright policy.

Then conduct your own research on the legal battle between Napster and the music industry.

Summarize each side of the argument. Who do you support? Why? Be sure you have good supporting facts for your argument.

This assignment can be used independently or as preparation for the in-class Napster debate.

 


Deconstructing Intellectual Property
Think of a piece of intellectual property that you enjoy – this can be a painting, novel, music, invention, etc. Then find out:

a) The creator;

b) The date of copyright, trademark, patent (and if it has been renewed);

c) The owner of the copyright;

d) 1-2 examples of how people have modified/used this piece of intellectual property, either legally or illegally.

This assignment can be used independently or as preparation for the Chapter Project.
