Tools to Learn: Copyright Ownership

Copyright Examples in PracticeUse the Internet to research a recent case/incident in the media involving an IP/copyright dispute.

Discuss the arguments (claim/demand/defense) and report on the results, drawing conclusions as to how this case is an example of IP law in practice.

Discussing Current Events (See Extra Activities)
Write a debate regarding the Napster issue.

One side should represent the artists and their case against Napster (how the Internet site violates their rights, avoids responsibility), while the other side should be an argument for the Napster company (justify its actions, identify how it’s maintaining its end of the rights-responsibility relationship).

You can express your own opinions on the matter at the end, but you should focus the debate more on the legal issues at hand.
